As elephant conservationists remember the rapidly dwindling populations, due to 80's large scale poaching.... Experts say some 38,000 African elephants are killed each year for their tusks... This must be prevented with greater cooperation; lest the day comes when we do not have this option...

The high demand for ivory in Asia seem to use the rationale that Kenya elephant populations are abundant; "so the deaths of four do not threaten its population"... But this is far from true....

[Save the Elephants ] has said that more ranger patrols & financial support are needed on Mount Kenya, to combat attacks.
"Most believe that the upsurge in poaching in recent months is due to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) decision to allow the southern African states of Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe(!) to sell their ivory stockpile to the highest bidder in China and Japan." It seems that this would be the same as if harm were placed upon a Panda... Both species are given custodial protection, and identified on first name basis..... In my view, helping to end wars, addressing conservation, and protect declining species; should be the absolute duty, of any country (such as China) with such high level of mining and harvesting from Africa...
