I have no doubt that Arctic mammals have endured tremendous sacrifice, amidst a much greater difficulty adapting to freezing temperatures...
A warm tropical beach means bigger fish, and longer mating season...

Brain-flash: Perhaps instead of trying to stop Volcanoes, and shifting polar caps, one might want to consider moving from a least desirable area?
