The Salton Sea...a major stop for birds on the Pacific Flyway (near Calipatria.) As brown pelicans (above) take to the skies for their winter migration; we are reminded to follow this project to completion!... Birds from space will be monitoring their movements in order to help scientists fight the spread of H5N1. --(the deadly strain of avian flu virus.)

After two years of often intense debate and research, state officials have prepared alternatives at which $2.3 billion to $5.9 billion will be applied to avert a huge public health threat. The 35-mile-long lake is expected to shrink 60 % in the next 20 years (if nothing is done)... Read more.
