An Era of Virtue

[Norman Rockwell; 1894-1978]
~(All content © | Digimarc -06)

At one time, his critics forbade him the title of "Artist", as Norman Rockwell, illustrator- 60 years of a century, created only those pieces which represent magazine ads, or newspaper publications...

But indeed, Norman Rockwell went on to become America's best Loved Artist. Leaving a legacy, hallmark to the primacy of America's commercial enterprise, Rockwell’s works chronologized an era of virtue, innocence and wholesomeness, all hoped not to have slipped beyond the grasp of today's world.
[Triple Self Portrait; 1960© D -06]

A year before his passing in 1977, President Gerald Ford appropriately awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Fitting, as were the messages of Freedom found within much of the symbolism of his work.

Later housed in a Rockwell Museum was his Freedom series, comprised of a bashful blend of politics, coupled with wit and irony.

Green light for Alito

And an angry red-face for Teddy...

I'm glad that this is nearing a close...

No matter how hard they tried to find fault, none could disprove Alito's excellence...I truly believe that Alito will grow with the needs of America, not only with a great aptitude, but with sound and moral capability.
In fact, Alito might just very well be the most phenomenal Supreme Court Justice, in history...
(And if you know me, you know I'm going to think like that. ;-)

Further, I understand the importance of this decision, but feel that it appeared to be a matter of "disproving" rather than (as they indicated) "proving"... To me, this took on an agenda, separate from inquiry...

Final Fizzle-out:
Senator in angst:
"If you are concerned and you want a justice that is going to stand for the working men and women in this country, it's not going to be Judge Alito," Kennedy roared as tourists in the visitors' gallery leaned forward for a better view...

But Frist got the last word...
"The sword of the filibuster has been sheathed," he told his colleagues moments before the roll call began. He scolded Democrats who pursued the stalling tactic on behalf of "the liberal activist agenda," and he warned that top lawyers may decline judicial nominations if they fear the confirmation process has become too brutal and partisan.

Sufficient Troop Strength in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq an Associated Press story earlier today incorrectly reported that General George W. Casey, Multi-National Force Iraq commanding general, implied American forces in Iraq are "stretched."

During an interview in Diwaniyah, Iraq, General Casey was asked about the current operational tempo and if insurgents could possibly outlast the U.S. Army in Iraq.

Having talked to the Chief of Staff of the Army only yesterday about overall troop strength and operational tempo, General Casey replied that the Army could sustain this effort for a long time. Additionally, General Casey pointed out that while U.S. forces are stretched overall, the Army is going through a modernization strategy that will produce more units and ready units. General Casey was speaking about Army forces in general, and not specifically about forces in Iraq.
The Associated Press was contacted about the error and has agreed to correct the story.

Guard the Borders Blogburst

January 30, 2006 Guard the Borders Blogburst

By
Heidi

This first month of 2006 has seen a
spate of unprecedented media attention to on-going border breaches such as drug smuggling tunnels and Mexican Army incursions. Deceitful Mexican government officials have disavowed any knowledge of such breaches, instead presenting laughable theories of "American soldiers disguised as Mexicans". Even our own Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, has covered for the Mexicans by dismissing border incursion as mere navigational "mistakes". (He's failed to comment on the gunfire from said "lost" Mexican soldiers.)

No one is fooled. Our border agents continue to risk their lives confronting heavily armed Mexican soldiers and smuggling gangs, while our own American citizens living on the border continue to petition our government for security - to no avail. Two American states, Arizona and New Mexico, have declared a state of emergency in their states, as the financial and societal obligation of caring for illegal immigrants crushes their economy and resources.

In four states, the two above plus Texas and California, the new majority is the Hispanic, though mostly illegal. Such a disparity between law-abiding, tax-paying American citizens has caused the unconscionable situation to develop that the minority now pays for the services and support of the majority.

In the meantime, trillions of American dollars flow out of our economy and into Mexico's in the form of tax-free cash remittances from illegal labor. These cash disbursements are the
largest form of income for the country of Mexico:

Remittances "are our biggest source of foreign income, bigger than oil, tourism or foreign investment," Fox told reporters after a meeting with Mexican-American businessmen.

"The 20 million Mexicans in the United States generate a gross product that is slightly higher than the $600 billion generated by Mexicans in Mexico," Fox said, adding that his country has the ninth-largest economy in the world.

"If we could add up the two products, Mexico would be the third or fourth economy in the world," he said.

Three years later, the number of illegal Mexicans in America is higher than ever, their impact on U.S. social services even more draining, and the free income is flowing ever-faster into Mexico's coffers. Think of it, their largest source of income costs them nothing in terms of infrastructure, research and development, education, and social services! They export their poorest, neediest citizens (at no cost to themselves) and sit back to wait for the free income to flow. No wonder they feel the need to ease their citizens' illegal entry into America by providing handbooks and maps - it has a direct impact on their economy! What other income-producing activity could they undergo that would require no construction, no training, no law enforcement, and no responsibilities whatsoever to their citizens? Why would they want to curb a free and very lucrative income? The illegality of it bears no consequences or costs, so the Mexican government has no incentive to fix a system that works wonders for them!

I do not know how much longer we can afford to single-handedly support an entire nation through second-hand disbursements. The trillions of American dollars that boost Mexico's economy are trillions of dollars not strengthening our own. Possibly even more important, the cultural impact of the burgeoning class of illegals is superseding American traditions and values and having a severe impact on our elections and government.

Our country was founded upon the premise "of the People, by the People, for the People" - and those People are constitutionally meant to be AMERICANS. Yet, foreign interest lobbies are having an ever-increasing detrimental effect on our local, state, and federal government as non-citizens are accorded most of the rights and privileges of American citizenship and garner actual governmental representation. This corruption of the intent of our Constitution has been allowed through the steady erosion of our national sovereignty.

Today, there are an estimated 23 million Mexicans working and living in America, according to Vicente Fox, who claims he is the leader of 123 million citizens: 100 million in Mexico and
23 million in America. Is it any wonder that he and like-minded special interest lobbies feel the RIGHT to demand more and more from our acquiescent government? Americans watch incredulously as they get most of what they demand, at our expense. To our shame, our nation's government has abdicated our rule of law concerning national sovereignty and national security.

We now have a large foreign presence within our borders that is NOT American, has no intention of ever becoming American, has no regard for American law, nor loyalty to America. This is akin to hosting a nation within a nation - and worse, one that is loyal to a foreign power.

Last week, in a related article, I summarized our current scenario as such:

Let’s recap: we’ve got your basic violent criminals (mafia, drug smugglers, rapists, killers, etc) crossing UNDER our border with impunity…we’ve got heavily armed Mexican military blatantly crossing OVER our border to protect such criminals…firing on American Border Patrol agents to collect $200,000 bounties…plus, we’ve got ongoing sightings of enemy soldiers from other nations, possibly China or North Korea, crossing our border…also firing at our Border Patrol agents…we’ve got Muslim terrorists infiltrating easily and regularly from Mexico…we’ve got Muslim terrorists that have already successfully smuggled in nukes from Mexico…we've got American citizens living armed in a border zone that has become lawless...though we are at war, our borders are undefended and breached on a regular basis... our sovereignty as a nation is defiled…and WE’VE GOT AN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT THAT KNOWS ALL OF THE ABOVE AND HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!

Our government today has monumentally failed in its most foundational duties to our lawful citizenry, as guaranteed by our Constitution. There is no doubt in my mind that our conflicted and disloyal elected "leaders" politicians desperately need the following reminder, from President Theodore Roosevelt:

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.

We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
--Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Silent Nods of Prayer

[Rockwell-1951 © | Digimarc -06)

"How far will they restrict those silent nods of prayer, those small whispers of affirmation. They are words softly uttered, as soldiers fought so hard to protect.

They are but whispers in every every dialect, imprisioned as giant screams...
That I should see the day where such thoughts and freedoms of kindly acts, might harm as our rights to be free." -Amen... MB

Excerpt:
..."On January 25, 1985, the flag from Troop 514, was submitted to the NASA Johnson Space Center by the Second Space Wing, for flight on a space shuttle. On January 28, 1986, it was carried in the official flight kit of the Challenger space shuttle on its last flight, sealed in plastic, in a box next to some souvenir medallions.

As the Challenger wreckage was brought up from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, rescuers found this flag, still in its sealed plastic bag, intact and completely unscathed. The souvenir medallions had melted into lumps.

Dec. 18, 1986, the Challenger flag was returned to Troop 514 by astronaut Guy Bluford (second from right) in a ceremony at Falcon Air Force Base, Colorado." read more.

Proposed Measures for Iran

[Camera:Video-at Whitehouse]
1-28-06 | M.B. on the Bush address:
In the National Address next week, one of the important topics will be to explain to the American people what is at stake in Iran and what it will take to resolve this crisis.
Impact - The cause and effect of solutions and policies and how they might impact the Iranian population, has been an emphasis in consort, from the collective of International concern, and the rational minds of experts from: Iran va Jahan US think tank:
"The Committee on the Present Danger" (CPD)
If you are unfamiliar with CPD: Read : CPD's Press Statement .
All on this committee are equally adimate about the adaptation of:
"Regime Change in Iran", as an official policy.
View: CPD's New Iran Policy Paper .

Proposed measures of the CPD:
(Not in any particular order)
~Sanctions imposed by the U.N. Security Council;
~Embargo on oil and ban of any foreign direct investment in Iran;
~Building a legal case against the Islamic regime's supreme leader and its current president for torture and murder of Iranians and incitation to genocide;
~Appointment by the U.S. President of a "Point Person" who would speak to Iranians and would dramatize the plight of political prisoners;
~More energetic and effective assistance to pro-democracy activists in Iran;
~Sharply increased support for U.S. based pro-democracy Iranian satellite TV stations;
~Ancillary pressure on Tehran by asking from the Lebanese Army to disarm Hezbollah and to restore the Lebanese sovereignty and freedom.

The common consensus: Message From the Majority:

As result of the Iranian Government's tool for propaganda and revolutionary stand-off against the west, the Iranian people have basically been denied proper contact with the outside, amidst a government, who has elevated an increase in censorship of its people.

Although fully modernized, a majority of Iranians attribute the pillars of their present day regime, to be the result of a stand-off by the West during the eight year war. This complete majority, do not support the arrogant and ignorant remarks directed at Israel and the Jewish people.

Equally out of alignment with the majority of Iranians, is the Islamic Republic's political strategy, clearly aimed at a war with the west. There remains a fear, by the Iranians, that the present stance of the regime may place them on the verge of war with the entire world.

Their eagerness toward peace and opportunity for quality of life, is jeopardized by a small fraction who have superiority and complete control...

Risotto Delicata with Sage

[Risotto Delicata: mb© | D.marc -06]
~Miammmmm!! -Click-to-enlarge!-

Delicata is a beautiful, sweet, orange winter squash; although you can use butternut, as well. The key is to select a firm and rich orange, as enhances the color of this dish...

~1 small; about 1 lb or (500g)
~2-3 cloves garlic
~3-4 cups (24-32 fl oz/750 ml-1l) Vegetable or chicken stock
~4 tablespoons (2 oz/60 g) salted butter
(2 oz/60 g) salted butter
~2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
~1 yellow onion, chopped

~1-1/2 cups (10 1/2 oz/330 g)
Arborio rice (Do yourself a favor; do not substitute type of rice)
~Approx: 5 fresh sage leaves; finely shredded
~1- 1/2 cups (12 fl oz/375 ml) dry white wine
~pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
~freshly ground pepper
~3/4-1 cup (3-4 oz/90-125g) Grated Parmesan cheese

How to:

In small bowl, crush garlic, pinch of salt, set aside...
Halve squash, scoop out seeds, peel, cut into 1/2 inch strips.
Dice, and coarsely shred the rest (use large holes in grater.)

Pour stock in saucepan, bring to (med) or less, and maintain gentle simmer

Large saucepan, melt 1/2 of butter w/ olive oil (med. heat)
Add diced squash and onions, sauté until softened (5-7 min)
Raise heat to med. high, add rice, cook, stirring, until kernels are coated with the butter and oil and are opaque, 3 to 5 min.

Add sage, pour in 3/4 cup (6 fl oz/180ml) of the wine, and again cook until absorbed.
Stir until remaining wine is absorbed. Now begin adding the hot stock (about 1/2 cup; 4fl oz/125 ml at a time: stirring until almost all the stock is absorbed before adding more. When rice is almost tender (about 15 min) stir in the reserved shredded squash. Continue to cook, adding (Layers= stock, stir constantly)...
(20-25 minutes total. Stir in the crushed garlic, the nutmeg, and salt and pepper to taste. Add additional stock if necessary...

Tip 1: When the rice becomes firm but tender, the center of each kernel is no longer chalk-white...

In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation. A person who betrays the nation of their citizenship and/or reneges on an oath of loyalty and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor.

Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: "...[a]...Citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." It is also generally considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government.

"I admire him for his resolve against my government and its meddling...

Latest intelligence on Chavez:
~View Film- Christian Broadcast news: cbn

"President of oil-rich Venezuela...
Chavez has decided that America is his enemy."

~Who he has supported:
Saddam, Moammar Khaddafy, the Taliban and Iran.

About Ceresole:
Argentine Holocaust-denier Norberto Ceresole, an early advisor of Chavez, believed that Latin America must forge alliances with Arab nations to fight against the United States (and of what Ceresole called, "the Jewish financial mafia.) A few months ago, Chavez played a major role in the first South American-Arab Summit in Brazil, which attacked both the United States and Israel as the chief enemies of Latin America.

Another report of intelligence examines a large body of evidence which suggests that Chavez is harboring and supporting the FARC guerrillas of neighboring Colombia, one of the largest and most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world.

Growing concerns:
Chavez is preparing to export his Bolivarian revolution to his neighbors. Why else would he need one hundred thousand (100,000) recently purchased Russian AK-47s? Why announce plans to increase the size of the army reserves from 50,000 to 1.5 million? Why the ties to guerilla movements?

~Chavez says the arms buildup is defensive. His opponents disagree. Taylhardat says, "He wants to do now what Castro failed to do in the 60s, when he sent out Che Guevarra to export the Cuban revolution to the rest of the continent."

Formation of Radical Islam

[IRAN: The projected future of Persian Gulf]

The U.S. Mission Towards Restriction of Terror Regimes:

In the words of Michael Ledeen contributing editor of National Review and of whose views on history and philosophy, have influenced or inspired the Bush administration's war on Iraq)... "If we wage the war effectively, we will bring down the terror regimes in Iraq, Iran, and Syria, and either bring down the Saudi monarchy or force it to abandon its global assembly line to indoctrinate young terrorists. That's our mission in the war against terror." -2002

~Read Leeden's latest 'National Review' article: "Do the right thing"...

In Crane Brinton's book, "An Anatomy of a Revolution"...

...he explains the set of four steps, as are outlined to be exactly the symptoms that the Iranian Revolution followed...
1. Symptoms 2. Rising fever 3. Crisis and 4. Convalescence.

"The Mission is a tall order, with many parallels of the past, along the way."[The Father of today's radical Islamofascism]

A Seductive Leader to a lost, mass of revolutionaries & militants who recognized Khomeini's large and potentially enormous following, and associated themselves with him.. These militant groups learned the benefit of exerting their force through the principals of a new found Radical Islam, in order to overthrow a government.

From a Shah takeover to a national referendum, Khomeini declared an Islamic republic. This republic consisted of a new constitution reflecting Khomeini's ideals of Islamic government.
Punishments described by Islamic law were reinstated. Political vengeance was taken, executing hundreds of people who had worked with the Shah's regime.

With this denouncification of materialism (as to create the climate in which social justice would prevail) Khomeini set up a system of revolutionary committees presided over by a revolutionary council. Religious leaders clearly predominated in the revolutionary council- committee-courts system, which came to be almost a parallel government.

We did not have a 9-11 then, but what was building was a precursor to the third step of a Revolution... Crisis...

As the world watched, and under the encouragement of the Khomeni, November 4, 1979, 500 extremist students seized the US embassy in Tehran, and took hostage 66 citizens at the embassy and the foreign ministry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has been received during this time of uncertainty that Iran, again, strengthens and forms alliance with militant groups for assurance.
Outside of its ideological support for radical movement, another area of Iran's military focus has been the Strait of Hormuz. At the present time. About 25% of the world's supply of crude oil transit through the Strait. The volume includes oil exports from Iran, UAE, Saudi Aravbia, Kuwait, and Qatar.
Arsenal of defensive weapons has been placed on the islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tumb, Lesser Tumb (all 3 islands belong to Iran and not the UAE). The real future aggressor and danger in this region seems to be the UAE for its claim over the Iranian islands.
"If neighboring Islamic countries, including Iran, become the target of attacks, we will support them," al-Sadr was quoted as saying. "The Mahdi Army is beyond the Iraqi army. It was established to defend Islam."
The comments could be seen as a message that Tehran has allies who could make things difficult for U.S. forces in the region if Iran's nuclear facilities are attacked.Continue reading.
