Milton Friedman clears up misconceptions about wealth redistribution, in general, and inheritance tax, in particular

-Posted by D.C. Worth, for Barbay (France/US)

I've been noticing a 'dumbing-down' of society, by the Progressive-Left, who use their Govt positions to encourage disdain for those with wealth... Of late, this has come at a high price against the successful efforts of Philanthropy in America... Particularly evident, as Govt limits & controls donations, by stripping charitable tax-incentives...

Good points in this Milton Friedman segment; posted here before...
(And most recently at IOTW)

The U.S. is largely a family society....
And the disdain for money seems to stem from one's reality in scarcity and envy, connected to low self-worth issues... This is easily corrected via productive methods; rather than the exhibits of divisive energy; encouraged & channeled to serve the "political class."

Regrettably, Social-progressive politicians know to attract & manipulate those with a huge chip on the shoulder, via unhealed belonging issues...

But I do not give much promise to a country that destroys its wealth, as they also increase their poverty... And once more people are able to make this distinction; they are able to contribute to a prosperous society, and elect the less intrusive Governments, they deserve....

Key reason why "divisive Govt" stifles productivity, & prolongs recovery.
