It was only as recent as 2007, HiRISE imagery found no mineral trace of liquid water. Today, as scientific knowledge evolves; we've a positive confirmation:

These craters could almost be described as nuclear craters...
Mathematician Asaph Hall discovered both the Red Planet's moons in 1877. Over 9 kilometers across, Stickney is nearly half the diameter of Phobos itself. So large that the impact that blasted out the crater likely came close to shattering the tiny moon.

Gamma rays are characteristic of specific nuclear surface interactions. #
So measuring their intensity and wavelength allow a measurement of the abundance of several elements. Many neutrons escape from the surface, flying up into space where they can be detected (by neutron detector) on Mars Odyssey...
But now... This will change everything, to have found dirty ice on Mars! More.

Ice is very close to the surface in some places on Mars. This has enormous implications for human exploration and settlement of the planet...
Scientists would love to manifest plant-life, on a potential planet... I'm reminded of this Geometric figure 'mathematical representation.' Keeping in mind, many are hoaxed; this is one (of two) which you may find interesting. (inset with research link below) They detail perfect Mathematical theory.
