Columbus, Eclipse, & 515 yr Resistance

Today we honor the Columbus expedition, in 1492...
Later to become a country by which strong foundations became states; and of whose 'multi-cultural unity' set forth to become a Nation...
This, and the milestones of American law, are forever recorded in History.

An interesting and fascinating story of an Eclipse...
Ivars Peterson's: Eclipse that Saved Columbus
Mr. Peterson's calculations attribute the success of Columbus's stratagem, to Regiomontanus, based on Ptolemy's Earth-centered model of the solar system...

"Columbus had observed a lunar eclipse on an earlier voyage and had noticed discrepancies between the predictions made by Zacuto and those contained in the Ephemerides. Moreover, he had no reliable way of determining the correct local time of this particular projected eclipse. The times provided by Regiomontanus for its start and end were for Nuremberg, Germany. "
"Amazingly, the prediction proved correct. As the full moon rose in the east on the appointed night, Earth's shadow was already biting into its face. As the moon rose higher, the shadow became larger and more distinct until it completely obscured the moon, leaving nothing but a faint red disk in the sky." Read full story

Christopher Columbus also bore witness to the Bermuda Triangle's weirdness: Reports of bizarre happenings...
And as for the Resistance...
"The Culture of Resistance" spans over seven life-times! For over fifty one decades represents the effort of those who lived solely to erase unfolding history. As a result, however, Columbus became the single key definition & identity of their cultures, now found in the 21st Century!

The resistance chose self-imposed lawlessness, rebel existence, to make a point; while opting to live in abject poverty, and corruption. Sadly, these are the fruits of those who choose resistance in envy, rather than to seek productivity.
(Also a repeat theme of many global troubles.)
Best revenge would have been, "Living Well through Quincentennial!"

Americans celebrate the arrival of Christopher Columbus (October 12, 1492)
While others celebrate: Día de la Raza (Day of the Race) in many countries in Latin America, Día de las Culturas (Day of the Cultures) in Costa Rica, Discovery Day in the Bahamas, Día de la Hispanidad in Spain...

And NOW... The newly-renamed (as of 2002) Día de la Resistencia Indígena (Day of Indigenous Resistance) in Venezuela, commemorate the same event.
(Resistance against a fully multi-culturalized North... yawn)

Today, unity and respect for laws will define us...
