'Hurricane chaser' filming Ike's landfall:
(CNN)- With at least three video cameras trained on the Gulf of Mexico and floodwaters rising around him in Galveston, Texas, Mark Sudduth prepared Friday to ride out Hurricane Ike from a hotel room on the city's wind-whipped oceanfront.

An average of Nine storms each year; only One and 1/2 hit land...

Republican Governor Bobby Jindal was able to achieve majority evacuations during Gustav... But authorities say, many stayed behind on Texas coast.
It is not that 11,000 could not leave... 11,000 refused to go. Crazy to stay, but I pray they will be safe...
