TODAY: 16th years since the fall of the Berlin Wall
Thursday, the 9th of November 1989 and Friday the 10th, mark the fall of the Iron Curtain. In much of what I've read, I understand that Kennedy, contrary to all public statements, had fewer objections to the Wall insofar as his Soviet opponents appeared to recognize the rights of the Western Allies in the Western sectors and also respected the access routes to Berlin...
THE WALL: Constructed in the early morning of Sunday, August 13, 1961, when the GDR began, under leadership of Erich Honecker, to block off East Berlin and the GDR from West Berlin, by means of barbed wire and antitank obstacles"...
~In the 16 years of its construction, citizens of West Berlin were no longer allowed to enter East Berlin.
~The GDR propaganda called the wall an "Anti-fascist protection wall."

Amidst the turmoil between Palestine and Israel, I hope that (even for obviously different reasons) construction of a similar wall will not come into play...
In as much as history has shown us that the building of a Wall is a disaster, much more damaging consequences become this.
