Archaic Projectile

Published: September 5th, 2005 | According to writer Megan Holland with Anchorage Daily News (Alaska.com) , a man called the police to examine a memento that he had unearthed, and..."a bomb squad equipped with 'remote-controlled robot' removed the cast iron ball and blew it to smithereens!”…..

The question remains unanswered, conserning its historic value (dating back to, possibility, of as early as the 1700.) The police are calling Metzger "an idiot" for carrying the incendiary device around in his truck, then bringing it into downtown Anchorage, where they say it could have sent shrapnel flying for blocks, had it exploded.

Metzger (an Anchorage attorney) is now suing police for full replacement, of that which represents its potential archaic value. Full story here.
