Over the next five years, Hart, Aranson and O'Connell-Rodwell conducted experiments with captive elephants in the United States, Zimbabwe and India. Using geophones buried in the soil, the scientists were able to confirm that low-frequency rumbles and mock charges do, indeed, generate measurable seismic waves that travel along the surface of the ground. In 1999, the UC-Davis team developed a mathematical model predicting that low-frequency vibrations have the potential of traveling up to 20 miles in the ground--potentially three times farther than airborne calls. more

Mystery as Big Ben falls silent for an hour

Big Ben Glitch
The chimes of Big Ben were silenced for over an hour on Friday night but the cause remains a mystery, an engineer said today. The Palace of Westminster's 147-year-old clock, considered to be one of the most reliable in the world, stopped at 10.07pm. It was thought the hot weather may have been to blame...

    SAMUEL ADDAMS Sept.27, 1722

    The First Democratic-Republican-Party

The overthrow of British rule in the thirteen colonies and the establishment of the United States of America.

For as long as Political Revelations have held their roots, the struggles to be "free-to-be-free" have never left priority ONE. Throughout the centuries of our misunderstood Land of Liberty, "Of thee they Sang, while shots Rang, and for Freedom they sprang, all transpired to form what was know as a Democratic-Republican Party .

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Beatty takes on Schwarzenegger in stars war

Beatty's words should speak for themselves: "I don't want to run for governor," he told his audience at the University of California. But he went on to say, "I'm an opponent of his muscle-bound conservatism with a longer experience in politics than he has ... I'd do one helluva lot better job than he's done."

    -------------
Beatty's claim of "a longer experience in politics than Schwarzenegger" only flaunts his inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality.
What's worse, is his innate ability to deliver egotistical self-promotional dribble, and pass it off as useful for a young graduate.

Seems to me that Martin Sheen went through something simular to this, at one time?

    "FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE!"

U.N. Forces Using Tougher Tactics to Secure Peace
    N.Y.TIMES: By MARC LACEY
NAIROBI, Kenya, May 22 - The United Nations, burdened by its inability to stave off the mass killings in Rwanda in 1994 and by failed missions in Bosnia and Somalia, is allowing its peacekeepers to mount some of the most aggressive operations in its history.
The change has been evolving over the last decade, as the Security Council has adopted the notion of "robust peacekeeping" and rejected the idea that the mere presence of blue-helmeted soldiers on the ground helps quell combat.

    (New York TImes)
    ----------
Wow, I can't even imagine how "mere blue-helmeted soldiers" (I mean, mere "Dead" blue-helmeted soldiers) did not somehow raise this censorious situation to IMMEDIATE red-flag!

Talk about procrastination! FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE! I guess this pathetic bureaucracy never went to boys camp. (Uh-come to think of it, neither did I) ha.

So, what's the bottom-line for a decision a decade in the making? Can they expect "robust peacekeeping" in like what? -2015?

"Heh, depends upon how cute one thinks a front page story of a defiant brat kid climbing into a Wal-Mart vending toy-crane machine (with an abating. dismissive parent looking the other way) is.

When you're little it's *maybe* cute for some, but somebody please try to convince him that later-on, it's 2 to five.

Now that I think of it, this does seems a little *too* much like public hostage taking.
