Just discovered Nassim Taleb, who has written and spoken about a subject that many on the far left, simply do not seem to grasp. For the most part, 'converting debt into equity.'

Healthcare overhaul: Will US Congress choice be Anabolic or Catabolic?
Fair analogy, as the overhaul objective is to lower premium and medical costs, provide affordable coverage, and reform Medicare... And this can be done in a very anabolic way, simply through environment of state's competition amidst 78% private Insured. This would spark reformation on all levels thus engaging not only higher standards, but a range of plans by entities, with a great deal of experience in offering a larger scope of coverage...
This plan is really the only choice, as leaves Ins Co "Tax-base" still supplying the US Gov, and Hospitals still able to receive foreign paid health services... And avoids mass Insurance Co. layoffs in the private sector...
Increased surplus funds available from increased private sector... would be the correction for "Medicare".. But this would be contingent upon a fiscally responsible Government, ready to trim spending and cease to replicate unsustainable policy... NOTE: It's becoming obvious that we have yet to elect this, in 2010!

Another concept of human liberty, is one by which man's voluntary exchange in the markets organizes activity; and becomes the magic of the price system... It is this freedom that enables people to improve their lives...
Milton Friedman demonstrates a simple lesson... (circa: 1980)
A most miscalculated and predictable outcome of price-fixing is rationing... And is a result of Governments' attempt to deliver "the common good" but (instead) the delivery of strife... (see taxation below)
The free market system is often blamed... But "freedom to choose" remains the only true measure by which creates a pathway for improvement.
The Founders of the United States Republic knew this, and cited that excessive Government-controlled markets, would lead to over-taxation... The framers gave the people 'checks and balances' and enumerated Powers; and warned us of those who would try to reduce them...
I cite (1895) appointed Supreme Court justices of the Honorable Abraham Lincoln, who made a CLEAR distinction, now embedded into history...
Un-constitutionality of a graduated income tax:
"Whenever a distinction is made in the burdens a law imposes, or in the benefits it confers on any citizens by reason of their birth, or wealth, or religion, it is class legislation, and leads inevitably to oppression and abuses, and to general unrest and disturbance in society.
It was hoped and believed that the great amendments to the Constitution which followed the late civil war had rendered such legislation impossible for all future time."
-re: Abraham Lincoln appointed Supreme Court justices; Justice Stephen J. Field, Separate opinion in Pollock v. Farmers' Loan and Trust Company, 157 U.S. 429 (1895)
NOTE: Media propaganda would later align Republican President Lincoln, to a candidate (current President) instead of a Socialist ticket.
As a final note... Partisan divisions are much more useful to Government, than to the people... Should we all agree that our Constitution embodies freedom of choice and equality... Handing over our liberty to government to secure a bit of short-term security, would be an obvious "fool's bargain"... wouldn't it.
