Struggle in Iraq, is No Soccer Match

The strife that Iraqis face, amidst centuries of violent fraction... Indeed, goes much deeper! I suggest that the Iraqis Unite while they still have our troops on the ground...Rather than struggle for Unity after a premature Departure of US troops.

If Iraqis are to make the transition from fractional violence, to recruiting legislation, and uniting a Nation of ethnic diversity...They can only do this, if they are United... (And they might actually want to prevent a Neighboring Coup!)

They have the Confidence of our US Military...

Oil Observations: US Technology Intro

-These 7 major oil producers deliver around 39 million barrels of 'cheap' crude oil a day. Around half the oil that the world burns up every day comes from these 7 high volume producers alone.

During a 1968 prediction, using the Hubbert curve method to show the estimated global peak of conventional oil reserves (and point slowly in decline) most astute investigators have estimated it to have been somewhere around 2005...
The point when half the original reserves are used up is the peak of the life of the resource, and it is irreversibly downhill from that point. New fields brought into production after peak oil are by definition small, and cannot make up for the huge amount of reserves already used up over the years.
For instance: Russia passed its peak of production in the 80's- if produced at the current high rate, will last only to about 2012. Norway, the world’s third largest oil volume exporter has also peaked, and at current rates will exhaust reserves by about 2014...
~~~~~~The size of the Saudi reserves and how much has been produced to date, is not readily available... Some have said that it is regarded as Saudi Arabia's state secret. Estimates of the reserves in the huge Saudi fields must be drawn from historical data going back to before 1979, when US oil companies worked on those fields. Estimates of the amount drawn off from Saudi fields must come from a variety of sources, including the number of tankers leaving Saudi terminals, and the amount of oil those tankers can carry...

Saudi Arabia is particularly important. It has the world's largest oil field, and is the single highest producer of oil in the world. The Hubbert method applied to Saudi Arabia implies that its fields originally contained a total of about 180 Giga barrels, and there are roughly 70 Gigabarrels left. The implication is that the Saudi reserves have passed the mid point, and will soon decline.

In Hubbert's day, prior to aggressive pressurization of fields with water or natural gas, decline would be gradual. Artificially re-pressurizing oil fields masks the gradual drop in pressure and gradual decline of the field. As a result of these techniques, decline rates in the largest Saudi fields have been held to 2% overall. It seems more likely than not that the decline slope in the pressurized massive Saudi fields will not follow the Hubbert decline curve - the decline may well be steep, not gradual. Time will tell...

Syria & the Iranian Incentive Package?

TIME Excerpt by Robert Baer asks a post-Saddam question of a Country whose regime (itself) survived off the Iraqis stolen oil; during 12-year U.N. embargo: "WHO IS STEALING IRAQI'S OIL?"

The oil traders tell me the principal market for stolen crude is Basra, Iraq's only access to the Gulf. Fadhila, the strongest Shi'a militia in the city, pretty much monopolizes the trade. Fadhila currently offers pilfered oil for $10-12 a barrel. Buyers have to arrange for small freighters to ship it to Dubai, where it is sold at the dock for around $30 a barrel.

The oil is sold on the international markets, commonly using a false certificate of origin or blended with other oil to disguise its origin. More and more frequently, however, co-opted employees in Iraq's Ministry of Oil help document the oil. Traders can expect to make a 4% return on the oil for themselves, with the rest of the money going to Fadhila and other militias. Read the entire article!

For the last couple of years, Iraqi and American officials were seeing a troubling pattern of government corruption enabling the flow of oil money and other funds to the insurgency and threaten to undermine Iraq's struggling economy...

Fires & Winds Near Father's Forest..

It has been a nightmare!
But now, the fires which have threatened Father's Forest, have weakened and changed course. We should be safe now thanks to the groups of firefighters (from around the country) who dug trenches along the River to our property; and thwarted the need to evacuate our family! # A very close call

The sky is a chalky-grey...
And never have I been more grateful, than I am today... This is the only picture (on card) that came out!! More later...
For now, the tall timbers stand still, as if my Father would have willed this to be... And except for a slight continuing wind, pushing ash away from Father's Forest... He smiles down upon us, through the sunlit trees...

Lebanese investigators have concluded that it was the al Qaeda-inspired militants, Fatah al-Islam, who killed the Christian Lebanese minister in 2006.

An-Nahar daily said results of the investigation into the Nov. 21 assassination of Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel would be made public soon and would show proof against Fatah al-Islam militants.

Gemayel was assassinated while driving in a Christian suburb of Beirut. The country's ruling coalition, to whom Gemayel's Phalange Party belongs, accused Damascus of his killing. Syria denied any involvement. Read more

Lebanese investigators found a car suspected of being used in Gemayel's murder last month during a crackdown against militants across the north, security sources have said, according to Reuters. Lebanese sources claim Ahmed Jibril's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command played a role in the murder.

Today, my thoughts are with Kosovo's 'strive for Independence'...
I believe that the one common goal on this Planet is to experience a 'Unity of Freedom.' Hopefully the World will someday realize that it was the security of the poor and oppressed, which continued to determine the future of our World's Peace. In April, U.N. envoy Martti Ahtisaari recommended that Kosovo be granted internationally supervised independence — a proposal strongly supported by its ethnic Albanians, who comprise 90 percent of the population of 2 million...
But vehemently opposed by its Serb minority, Serbia and Russia.

Kosovo’s desire to establish democratic institutions, include the formation of an elected assembly, and to develop and promote an independent judiciary and free press... All clear reflections of a strong will to practice Freedom…

As Albanians apply determination to seek Independence, and form a referendum to determine province's split from Serbia...
We hope for a rapid resolution toward their development as a Nation of Freedom.

It destroyed all that was done in the way of Statehood and freedoms since the eleventh century and Nemanja. Even further destruction came in 1459 when Serbia was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire proper. After that time Serbia was no longer a true state.
